Bill Cunningham Is Mad as Hell at John McCain, and He's Not Gonna Take It Anymore

|

Of late, John McCain's presidential nod has had more flaps than grandma's right tricep. The most recent was Cunninghamgate, based around a conservative Cincinnati radio show host who fired up a McNasty rally by referring to Barack Obama by his Allah-given name, Barack Hussein Obama, thus linking the Illinois Democrat to, you know, the former leader of Iraq, the odd prince of Jordan, and Muslims everywhere.

McCain apologized for his opening act's opening act multiple times, thus earning the ire of Cunningham, a local institution in Southwest Ohio, who told the Cincy Enquirer:

"Why is he attacking me and not Obama or Hillary? He ought to attack Democrats and quit attacking conservatives like me."

Cunningham said he has no plans to meet McCain again. "I've had it up to here with John McCain. He's off the list. I'm joining Ann Coulter in supporting Hillary Rodham Clinton."

Indeed, Cunningham likened McCain (unintentionally, I'm sure) to Girls Gone Wild felon Joe Francis: "John McCain threw me under the bus, under the Straight Talk Express. I got thrown under the bus."

Strangely, Cunningham's defense of using Obama's full name is, well, lame:

The purpose of using Obama's full name—Barack Hussein Obama—"is to identify that person. I meant no offense by it," Cunningham said. Those who oppose his use of Obama's middle name are those who should be criticized, Cunningham added.

What kind of world are we living in where straight-talking conservatives of all stripes are pussyfooting around with saying what they mean and meaning what they say?
