Iraq in Fragments
One of the many benefits of the digital revolution is that film production costs have drastically fallen. So much so that a one-man crew is now a viable force in the field of documentary filmmaking. Such is the case with the film, 'Iraq in Fragments' where director James Longley traveled to Iraq shortly after the invasion to document the situation on the ground. The film is divided into three parts to represent the Sunni, Shia, and Kurdish people in Iraq. The result is a beautifully photographed and insightful film that gets past the rhetoric of 'we should have/we shouldn't have' and explores what it means to live in a war torn country.
