A rocket launched at Eilat in southern Israel was intercepted before hitting the Red Sea resort town early Tuesday, the Israeli Defense Forces announced via Twitter.

An air-raid siren sounding around 1 a.m. followed by two explosions sent residents and vacationing tourists in the resort town seeking shelter in designated safe areas, as an incoming rocket was intercepted.
