Actually, as Scott Shackford discovered after watching the pilot, The New Normal is neither particularly edgy nor controversial. Instead it relies on well-worn stock stereotypes and Glee creator Ryan Murphy's affectation for bitter, loudmouthed women to round out a plot that lacks important connective tissue.
