College Newspaper Board Apologizes to Students

Staff walked out over leadership of newspaper being handed over to non-students.

The board of the student-run newspaper at the University of Georgia has apologized for what it called misunderstandings that provoked most of its student journalists, including the editor-in-chief, to walk out earlier this week.

Students at The Red & Black left Wednesday night. They said they were unhappy that the paper's non-student editorial adviser had been given full control of the newspaper. The students were angered by a draft memo listing expectations for the paper's professional staff, who are not students.
