Yet when it comes to both the disintegration of the euro and America's looming entitlement bomb, Europeans and Americans alike display similar habits of mind in the way they talk about, and mostly avoid talking about, these utterly predictable yet practically unfathomable fiscal maladies. But in a sense that doesn't matter.
