Philosopher Stephen Case's new book, Immortality:The Quest to Live Forever and How it Drives Civilization, argues that our realization that we will inevitably die clashes with our inability to imagine our non-existence. The result of this Mortality Paradox is four different immortality narratives—Staying Alive, Resurrection, Soul, and Legacy—at the base of human civilizations. Case further argues that even if we could become immortal we would regret it.
