Taking a Shot
The school nurse at Detroit's Marcus Garvey Academy pulled Sighie Kinney's 14-year-old daughter out of class and gave her four vaccinations, including one for HPV. Kinney says she did not give per permission for the shots. In fact, she left written instructions that the girl not be given any medical treatment. Detroit Public Schools officials refused to answer media questions about the incident, citing student privacy.
