One would think that the California Assembly's Transportation Committee would be deeply concerned with planning cost-effective ways to meet the transportation needs of a growing population during tough economic times. Yet as Steven Greenhut reports, the committee actually spends nearly a third of its time on a task that few people would consider of vital importance: naming highways.
