Leave That to a Professional

Parents of students Fawcett Elementary School, in East Tacoma, Washington, planned a weekend clean-up day at the school. But when the union for the school's custodial and maintenance staff got wind of the event, they got the school to limit what the parents could do. The parents weren't able to do some of the work they planned, such as trimming bushes that block the view of those pulling into or out of the school. "If it's somebody's job, then they're paying them to do nothing because it hasn't been done," said Ron Joslin, one of the parents.
