How Touching

Darlene Rangel and Kevin Stanley each got a $50 fine after the two reportedly told police they were taking part in a sexual massage in a Roanoke, Virginia, motel room. But it wasn't the sexual part that earned them the fine. It was the fact that they were of opposite genders. A city ordinance forbids someone from hiring a person of the opposite sex, but not the same sex, for "any massage, any alcohol rub or similar treatment, any fomentation, any bath or any electric or magnetic treatment." Police say they usually only enforce the law when they can't prove prostitution.
