We Just Enforce the Law; We Don't Follow It
The Gloucestershire, England, police department admits it broke the law when it rejected 108 job applicants simply for being white men. It was all part of an "advance diversity" program. But the department only acknowledged the drive after an investigation by the Commission for Racial Equality and the Equal Opportunities Commission. The department has agreed to pay one of the rejected applicants 2,500 pounds, and others may also file claims. The head of the department's human resources department says officials believed at the time their actions were lawful.
