A 15-year-old girl told the Manitoba (Canada) Court of Appeal that she felt scared and overwhelmed when doctors forcibly gave her a blood transfusion. The girl is a Jehovah's Witness, and she believes her religion does not permit blood transfusions. But a lower court had issued an order allowing Child and Family Services to force a blood transfusion on her as treatment for a flare-up of Crohn's Disease. She is asking the court to declare her a "mature minor" able to make her own decisions about her health care.
