Attn, DC Reasonoids: Live Weigel, Tonight, One Show Only

|

Delaware Dave Weigel, political journalism's answer to George Thorogood, is speaking tonight at an America's Future Foundation panel on Latin America. The details:

It was only a few years ago that the rise of Hugo Chavez seemed to signal a new Latin wave of hard leftism. Yet today paints a more complicated picture, with center-right victories in Mexico and Colombia and center-left politicians gaining traction against radicals across the region—even as Chavez consolidates his rule. Please join us as we discuss the implications of these trends for both Latin America and the United States.

Panelists will include Marc Wachtenheim of the Pan American Development Foundation, independent Brazilian journalist Olavo de Carvalho, and Reason assistant editor David Weigel. Ivan Osorio, editorial director at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, will moderate the discussion.

The event will be held at The Fund for American Studies, 1706 New Hampshire Ave, NW, Washington, DC, near Dupont Circle. Drinks at 6:30, with discussion at 7:00 pm. Please RSVP to kathleen@americasfuture.org.
