One Ring Zero's album, As Smart As We Are, features lyrics by 17 well-known high-end writers like Paul Auster, Jonathan Lethem, and the ubiquitous Margaret Atwood. Wherever the band appears on the road, some paper's music critic weighs in on whether rock and lit really mix. Here's a particularly good example: a piece that remembers when Henry Fielding and Ivan Turgenev wrote lyrics, too (as opera librettos). Canadian writer Carl Wilson even notes that James Joyce was a "fine singer" ("whose wife Nora reportedly said late in life that her husband should have stuck to music").
