Officials in Porterdale, Georgia, suspected something was amiss when the traffic court was swamped. The found that 240 tickets had been written in January, more than double the average number of tickets written each month. Looking into the matter, they found that just two police officers have written about half the tickets. Further, a witness claimed he'd heard the two bragging about the number of tickets they'd written. Now, rookie officers Erin Cox and Frank Jackson have been suspended following accusations they bet on who could write the most tickets. Officials say the speeding stops were legitimate. But once the officers stopped someone, they would tack on citations for every minor offense they could find to increase total.
