The Ears Have It

|

Is it my imagination, or are Bush's ears getting bigger and pointier? A decade ago, when This Week With David Brinkley ruled the Sunday morning airwaves, my wife and I used to marvel at the size of the host's ears and compare them to those of his guests. Tom Foley's, for example, were very impressive, and Paul Simon's were perhaps unrivaled, especially in the lobe area. Partly this is a function of age: They say the ears (and the nose) keep growing after the rest of us starts to shrink. But I have to say that Bush's performance tonight, at a relatively young age, gave pause to those of us who thought that elderly Democrats had an advantage in this area. And did you catch the flappers on Tommy Thompson?
