In Memoriam
The cause of liberty lost a friend in May, when Roy Childs died of a heart attack at the age of 43. Roy may be best known for his work with Laissez Faire Books and for founding Libertarian Review in the late 1970s, but I met him as a lecturer at a Cato Institute summer seminar 10 years ago. Witty, thoughtful, and a fine writer, Roy was among the most popular lecturers with students. What impressed us most was his friendliness, his willingness to stay up until the early morning discussing with earnest young people issues he must have discussed hundreds of times before. Everyone who knew Roy will miss him.
