MANY MAGAZINES
At one point the libertarian movement was defined as "500 activists selling magazines to each other" and the movement media still consists of numerous newsletters and journals. Here is a list of some new, small libertarian periodicals which readers might find of interest (this list isn't meant to be exhaustive—other mags will be listed as space permits):

NEWS AND NOTES
A National Association of Libertarian Lawyers is being organized by Donald Feder and Gary Greenberg. The purposes of the association will be to spread libertarian ideas within the legal community and the general public, work for libertarian legislation, and provide legal assistance to activists within the libertarian movement. They will hold an organizing conference the week of the National Libertarian Party Convention, August 25 through 31 in New York City. IMPORTANT NEWS! The Free Libertarian Party of New York has selected the porcupine as their state party animal at their State Convention. Running an "animated" campaign, the porcupine was selected over the skunk on the second ballot when most supporters of the rattlesnake threw their support behind the porcupine. Gary Greenberg, newly-elected FLP State Chairperson explained, "The porcupine is a nonaggressive animal that minds its own business. Its quills are used solely as a defensive weapon. Unlike the politician, the porcupine is not a predatory animal"
The Intercollegiate Studies Institute announces The 1975 Ludwig Von Mises Memorial Essay Contest. The subject of entered essays is "The Growth of Bureaucracy: Issues and Alternatives." A regional chapter of the New Libertarian Alliance has been formed in Oregon. Their first project will be to join forces with the Research Committee For a Fair Choice in getting the Voter's Complete Choice Initiative on the ballot (see REASON, April 1975). Lloyd Taylor, 1974 write-in candidate for California State Treasurer of the Libertarian Party and Peace and Freedom Party, has announced his candidacy for San Francisco County Board of Supervisors. The election will be held in November of this year and is nonpartisan. Equitarian Associates will hold a conference on the "Philosophy of Man" August 1 and 2 at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The conference topic will deal with the question of man's nature: whether man has a nature and if so what are the implications, both for and against the assertion of that nature, with respect to moral, political, and social questions. The Poughkeepsie Libertarians are off and running again. Carole Cohen, wife of last year's Congressional candidate Sandy Cohen, has announced her candidacy for Mayor of Poughkeepsie, and will enter the Republican and Conservative parties primaries. Ellen Davis, former campaign manager for Sandy Cohen, will enter the Democratic primary for Dutchess County Executive. Both women will appear on the Free Libertarian Party line, whether or not they win their respective major party primaries. (Note: There are recent rumors that Ms. Davis may switch to running for County Board with Republican Party backing, a much more viable position. More updates later.). The San Francisco Bay Area Supper Club held its first meeting in March with Murray Rothbard as the speaker. Over 200 people attended. Their second meeting was held in May with Dr. Robert Cunningham, and they plan on holding semi-regular meetings.
