President Obama delayed a meeting on the current fiscal
stalemate with Congressional leaders today in order to give
Senators time to reach a deal.
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) said earlier today that the
bipartisan group of Senators who met to discuss the government
shutdown and the debt ceiling was making progress. Despite what you
might have heard, the
U.S. has defaulted before, once in 1812 and again in 1979.
