Tim Cavanaugh is the Web editor of Reason, the libertarian
monthly named one of "The
50 Best Magazines" for two years straight by the Chicago
Tribune.
Cavanaugh manages, edits, and, when all else fails, writes all
the content for Reason Online,
makes sure the Hit and
Run blog runs on time, and works to ensure that Reason
meets the demands of its rapidly growing number of satisfied
readers. For Reason, he has written about Rob Reiner's
expensive efforts to keep all Californians brain-fed and
smoke-free, Hizbollah's complex position in the new middle east,
the long, happy life of America's anti-defamation industry, the
hubbub over embryonic stem cell research, and many other
topics.
Prior to coming to work for Reason, Cavanaugh edited
the late, lamented Suck, which
was arguably the first, and was indisputably the most hated, daily
content site on the web. He has more than ten years' experience
working for daily and weekly newspapers, and a variety of
magazines, trade papers and web efforts.
Cavanaugh's articles have appeared in The Washington
Post, The Boston Globe, The San Francisco
Chronicle, The Beirut Daily Star, San
Francisco Magazine, Mother Jones, Agence
France-Presse, Wired, Newsday, Salon, Orange
County Register, The Rake magazine, and countless
alternative and community papers too embarrassing to mention. His
own site, The Simpleton,
gets updated once every blue moon.
Tim Cavanaugh lives in California with his wife and two
daughters.
