The Chinese government has fined Unilever $308,000 for "spreading information about price rises" after it told the official Xinhua News Agency of its plans to raise soap prices. Managers of companies that produce food and consumer products have been warned to limit price increases and not to talk about them as part of the government's efforts to limit rising inflation.
