Under the Influence

In Texas, Aliah Rowe, 12, had an upset stomach and headache, so she went to see the school nurse at Blocker Middle School. The nurse and the school resource officer looked at her at decided she was under the influence of drugs. The school suspended her for 30 days, and the resource officer issued her a citation. But Rowe's mother took her that same day to be tested for drugs and alcohol. The tests came back negative. In fact, a doctor gave the mother a note saying that Rowe had been suffering from a migraine. Still, school officials refused to drop the suspension until the mother went to the local media. Rowe still faces criminal charges, however.
