David Burch spent one weekend in jail and was threatened by a judge with another. Why? He can't get the grass to grow at his new home in White Cloud, Michigan. Burch says a contractor didn't sod the yard. He himself planted some grass seeds, but when they didn't grow, a judge jailed him for violating city ordinances requiring a green yard. He has now tried sodding the yard with donated turf.
