In China, the government of Henan province plans to blow up the historic Our Lady of Mount Carmel sanctuary. The government has already banned Catholics from any religious gathering at the site, including the annual pilgrimage. The government calls such gatherings "illegal religious activity," but some believe the government wants the scenic site for a hotel or possibly for a new villa for a Communist Party leader.
