In Malaysia, an Islamic court has detained Revathi Masoosai for an additional 80 days for religious rehabilitation. Court officials say "she did not cooperate" during her initial confinement. The court first detained her for 100 days after they found the woman, who was born to a Muslim family, had married a Hindu man in a Hindu ceremony. They also took Revathi's infant daughter from her and gave her to Revathi's mother. Under Malaysian law, Muslims may not convert. Revathi was not brought to court when it decided to extend her detention, and her husband's request for a copy of the court order was denied.
