I get the joke, but somehow I'm not laughing.

Episiarch | January 11, 2008, 8:43am | #

I think the better question is "how many politicians does it take to take away your liberties?"

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer to that question.

Reinmoose | January 11, 2008, 8:49am | #

I was thinking
"How many politicians does it take to screw...you"

Episiarch | January 11, 2008, 9:26am | #

Man, it's a ghost town around here today.

Al Federber | January 11, 2008, 9:44am | #

They'll get my incandescent bulbs when they pry my cold, dead fingers off the switch.

Reinmoose | January 11, 2008, 9:54am | #

Episiarch -
it's not a ghosttown if you're over on the RP thread.
SURPRISE!

Episiarch | January 11, 2008, 9:56am | #

Yeah, well, I'm staying away from that clusterfuck.

SugarFree | January 11, 2008, 10:15am | #

Episiarch,

I agree completely. Everyone should stay off of those. We've all stroked joe and MNG's... err... egos... far enough on this topic. I'm sick of watching their shuttering ejaculations of confirmation bias all over my screen.

Episiarch | January 11, 2008, 10:30am | #

I'm sick of all of it. There's way too much of a holier-than-thou purity jerkoff fest going on.

OH NOES RON ISNT PURFECT

Time to abase ourselves before the libertarian gods.

Warty | January 11, 2008, 11:22am | #

shuttering ejaculations of confirmation bias

*golf clap*

P Brooks | January 11, 2008, 11:32am | #

Reinmoose- I was on my way to do the "they're more interested in screwing you" bit, but you preceded me. Well done.

Oops! wrong button-

As for the Scandalous RP Newsletter;

Oh, fuck it.

de stijl | January 11, 2008, 12:06pm | #

Woulda been better if you'd spelled it "shuddering."

SugarFree | January 11, 2008, 12:52pm | #

Yeah, OK. Stupid computer can't read my mind, yet. [grumble]

Kwix | January 11, 2008, 1:09pm | #

I agree with Mike P.
Oh, and Reinmoose too. While "funny" I am not laughing. And this from someone who has already converted the most used bulbs in the house to CFL.

Sam-hec | January 11, 2008, 1:27pm | #

IIRC, it's not so much the incandescent part which defines the ban, but a certain level of inefficient lighting sources...which just happens to inclkude the basic incandescent bulb. Make a more efficient incandescent and maybe it will stick around....people have been working on this.

MikeP | January 11, 2008, 1:41pm | #

I don't see why everyone's so worked up about the banning of incandescent bulbs.

Recall what you learned in high school history... The incandescent light bulb did not get wide use and come down to an affordable price until Congress banned kerosene lamps in the 1891 Energy Bill. Were it not for that wise action, we would have used up all the oil in the world long ago!

Brian Sorgatz | January 11, 2008, 8:52pm | #

How many politicians does it take to screw in a light bulb? Depends how many can fit in the light bulb.
