Very Sad Trousers

Some belated justice is coming to Washington, D.C. administrative courts.

The judge who became an international symbol of runaway litigation after he sued a Korean dry cleaners for $54 million over a pair of pants will be notified today that he has been removed from the bench, sources close to the process said late Monday.

The city commission overseeing the case of Administrative Law Judge Roy Pearson voted to give Pearson a letter formally advising him that he will not be reappointed to the bench, ending a protracted review process.

It's over! In the Friday the 13th oh-Jason-is-dead-let's-turn-and-walk-away sense of things.

Pearson, 57, could not be reached for comment. He had earlier hinted that he would sue the District if he were removed.

Someday this will be turned into an HBO miniseries starring Reginald VelJohnson and we can laugh about it.

I just learned that Jackie Chiles was played by Phil Morris, Greg Morris' son. Phil was a star of the "new" Mission: Impossible TV series, although, of course, he's much better known for Seinfeld. For our youngsters, Greg Morris was on the original Mission: Impossible.

Rhywun, You caught two out of three. When was thae last time a boiler exploded in your neighborhood? Do we REALLY need a full time business boiler inspector, funded by the taxpayers. He was running a protection racket, with the state providing the muscle. It's A-fuckin'-mazing!

On the diversity trainig nonsense, If I'm the boss, I say "See this asshole? He's fired. We're prosecuting him. Don't be an asshole like him or we'll do it to you as well! Now, get back to work!"

It seems that would suffice.

From the Detroit article about the inspector/racketeer:

"Many fear retaliation if they speak up, [a Korean editor] said. 'In Korea, you don't fight the government.'"

I don't know if he's being fair to their native country, but in America, although fighting the government takes time, energy and money, if you're willing to invest these things, you at least have a fighting chance of victory.
