Wonder Showzen was awesome

Rhywun | October 24, 2007, 10:27pm | #

Oh. I forgot it was on.

Jak | October 24, 2007, 10:30pm | #

I predict that the plot twist will be that the terrorists got into Imaginationland because Bush thought them up.

Akira MacKenzie | October 24, 2007, 10:31pm | #

Personally, I'm having fun spotting all the various characters:

Tonight I've seen:

Cylons
Stormtroopers
Alien
Predator
Freddy Kruger
Jason
Pinhead
Great Cthulhu
Khan Noonien Singh

Randolph Carter | October 24, 2007, 10:33pm | #

ah I am so looking forward to watching this tomorrow. Anytime Cthulhu gets up from a nap, the surrounding story is infected with awesome.

Randolph Carter | October 24, 2007, 10:33pm | #

also, Akira, old or new cylons?

TJ | October 24, 2007, 10:36pm | #

What movie was Kyle's revival a scene reference to?

Akira MacKenzie | October 24, 2007, 10:38pm | #

Old School..

But they did do a parody of the new BSG intro sequence.

Along with parodies of Stargate and The Abyss.

Scooby | October 24, 2007, 10:39pm | #

Akira,
you forgot
MANBEARPIG!!!

Does that mean Al Gore will appear tonight?

Akira MacKenzie | October 24, 2007, 10:41pm | #

As for Cthulhu, Rudolph, you have to look for him, but he's there.

Akira MacKenzie | October 24, 2007, 10:44pm | #

Scooby,

I was wondering that myself.

It was also cool to see the return of the Christmas Critters.

I'm glad my uber-Catholic father wasn't watching tonight, there was one character featured that he wouldn't appreciate being referred to as "imaginary."

iih | October 24, 2007, 10:44pm | #

We need a World Series open thread. The rights of Red Sex Nation Reasonoids are not respected on H&R.

Scooby | October 24, 2007, 10:47pm | #

Akira,
You mean Aslan, right?

Walker | October 24, 2007, 11:01pm | #

I was impressed with the goblin from the Rankin/Bass hobbit. Definitely one of the more obscure ones.

crimethink | October 24, 2007, 11:05pm | #

Where do I send a request that the "South Park Open Thread" NOT become a weekly occurrence? It's really not topical to H&R, is it?

Standard L-Boilerplate: H&R is a privately owned site, they can do what they want, etc.

Randolph Carter | October 24, 2007, 11:06pm | #

NO WAY!

you go my lad
yo ho my lad
goblins bite and goblins bleat
goblins something and goblins eat
yammer jammer whip and hammer oooooooooooh
down down to goblin town down down to goblin town down down to goblin toooooooooooown...

I freaking loved that cartoon

Randolph Carter | October 24, 2007, 11:07pm | #

man I can't believe I still remember that. Also, the 15 birds in 5 fir trees song, and the "where there's a whip, there's a way" song.

Rankin Bass rules.

Urkitalics (No Relation) | October 24, 2007, 11:15pm | #

Imaginationland Jesus and South Park Jesus are two different guys, like black-space-unitard Spider-Man and Madonna.

crimethink | October 24, 2007, 11:17pm | #

Sorry, iih. I think you have joe to blame for being the bad apple that spoiled your bunch...

iih | October 24, 2007, 11:25pm | #

crimethink:

Classical guilt by association! You blame the entire Sox Nation because of the actions of one member? Very sad.

Matt L | October 25, 2007, 12:05am | #

I second the need for a World Series thread. A place where we can discuss the Taco Bell stolen base promotion and point out There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Taco. TANSTAAFT.

Jason | October 25, 2007, 12:09am | #

My balls were dry... then this episode sucked. my. baaaaaaalls.

Seriously, this episode is off to a really unpromising start.

jason | October 25, 2007, 12:10am | #

errr... I meant season, not episode.

iih | October 25, 2007, 12:12am | #

TANSTAAFT -- not on Red Sox's watch.

smacky | October 25, 2007, 1:12am | #

I think we need to devote an entire thread to the Indians, who are awesome and were full of win this season. And who are hotter than the Sox by a long shot. So we'd better include some pictures, too.

Geez, still nothing about the fires in California! Global warming just isn't Reason's thing, is it?

| October 25, 2007, 7:10am | #

Edwardooooooooo

The fires in California have something to do with Global warming?

Explain, please.

Pete | October 25, 2007, 7:40am | #

I was hoping for skeletor to be the first one to pop through the fence. Bring on Skeletor!!!!!

Matt | October 25, 2007, 8:59am | #

Trey and Matt must love the old Rankin/Bass Hobbit stuff. They've referenced it a lot.

I loved it when Jesus showed up. I knew sooner or later they'd get around to suggesting that Christianity was all made up. I hope that next week, they show a character who they refer to only as "Prophetic Arabic Male."

But where's Gandalf??? HE should have been on the council, not that whiny little wimp Luke!

ed | October 25, 2007, 9:03am | #

The fires in California have something to do with Global warming?

I can help you with that.

Fire = hot.
Hot = warming.
Tree = land.
Land = Earth.
Earth = globe.
Therefore, fire = global warming.

rob sama | October 25, 2007, 9:33am | #

IN Episode 1, at teh beginning, they showed a brief cut of Joseph Smith, Buddah, and Krishna in Imaginationland. Didn't notice if Mohammed was there or not. But it really looked like the SuperBestFriends were standing around together...

VM | October 25, 2007, 9:33am | #

OMG!OMG!OMG!

"Edward" is Butters!

Randolph Carter | October 25, 2007, 9:34am | #

Galdalf was there at the council

matt | October 25, 2007, 10:21am | #

My bad, you're right: Gandalf was there. I missed that.

The Other Matt | October 25, 2007, 10:44am | #

I can do that in few moves:

Fire = Bad
Global Warming = Bad
therefor
Fire = Global Warming

Dan | October 25, 2007, 11:48am | #

I positively screamed with laughter when the alien killed the mayor (or at least mortally wounded him). I love when South Park goes totally over the top in moments like these.

GeePeeCLXI | October 25, 2007, 1:57pm | #

Mordred from Excalibur war a nice touch.

GeePeeCLXI | October 25, 2007, 1:58pm | #

war = was. Preview dammit!

Er... maybe I was thinking in German.

Done in one (with a footnote) | October 25, 2007, 2:16pm | #

Fire = global warming

(just like a lit burner = oven warming

Edward (no, not that one) | October 25, 2007, 3:14pm | #

Mordred from Excalibur war a nice touch.

Thanks for that bit of info. I was trying to remember who that character was in the gold mask.

logicwings | October 25, 2007, 3:47pm | #

>Fire = hot.
>Hot = warming.

>Land = Earth.

>Therefore, fire = global warming.

>Hot = warming.
>Tree = land.

Undistributed Middle Term. Like most Global Warming advocates, you are an idiot.

Peter | October 25, 2007, 4:09pm | #

One of the major blazes in California was caused by arson. But that's no reason for the ecovangelists not to play Six Degrees of Global Warming with it. They do with every other major disaster, like as is so tastefully done with Hurricane Katrina. Why the media's even gone so far as to make the dubious connection that Global Warming is what's truly responsible for the conflict in Darfur. So within the context that most liberals do not truly believe in existential free will, they could easily make the case that an arsonist was acting as an agent of Global Warming, either directly or indirectly.

This fall has been a return to SP roots: vulgarity. Tourette's, giant poop, and over-dramatic epic nonsense about the nature of imagination and ball sucking.

Dr. Kenneth Noisewater | October 25, 2007, 6:28pm | #

"This fall has been a return to SP roots: vulgarity. Tourette's, giant poop, and over-dramatic epic nonsense about the nature of imagination and ball sucking."

And thank holy Xenu for that.

agentalbert | October 25, 2007, 9:09pm | #

Yeah, Mordred from Excalibur was my favorite of the villains. I also enjoyed seeing Medusa The Gorgon from Clash Of The Titans. And the Tron guys guarding the castle.

Matt L | October 25, 2007, 10:03pm | #

FREE TACOS FOR AMERICA!!

You can thank Jacoby Ellsbury of the BoSox.
