Is Bill O'Reilly's reaction the only drama at the Yearly Kos convention?

Brian Carnell | August 2, 2007, 11:15am | #

I still find Cathy Young's dissection of Marcotte far more convincing than Weigel's concerns about her being "mau-maued" (http://cathyyoung.blogspot.com/2007/02/pandagate-and-anti-male-bigotry.html)

Hmm, O'Reilley is over reacting, but at the same time, Kos is firmly on my dislike list for being a partisan first blog.

an "ultimate online hangout"... Maybe one that's a little more iconoclastic.

Whatever do you mean?

and make conservatives and libertarians daydream about an "ultimate online hangout" of their own.

A-HEM!

I kinda feel the same way. Good thing that no reason editors are/were Kos diarists.

would it be political suicide if Ron Paul spoke at this Yearly Kos shindig? I mean, c'mon, he isn't really a Republican.

ChicagoTom | August 2, 2007, 1:14pm | #

At least Kos openly admits being a partisan. Unlike basically everyone on Fox news who pretend to be independent when they are really just GOP partisans.

seer | August 2, 2007, 1:21pm | #

That's only marginally better.

mediageek | August 2, 2007, 1:34pm | #

So, Daily Kos vs. Democratic Underground.

Who wins?

Marcvs | August 2, 2007, 2:22pm | #

Whenever I'm looking for a little partisan hyperbole, DU, DKos, and FR never fail to deliver. When it comes to serving any other purpose, however, they are completely useless. I just shudder to think that these people actually exist in the real world.

Oh yeah, DK was a real nice place | August 2, 2007, 2:27pm | #

Fun facts: The former owner of Pandagon was somewhat reasonable, but right after Edwards named Marcotte I posted what a mistake it was. I believe I was the first to point that out; others simply took the time to look through their archives.

As for the "primordial form" of DK being "nice", I was banned from there in 2003 after I correctly pointed out that Kos was lying about the source of a picture: he claimed it was from "the al Jazeerah", when it was actually from aljazeerah.info, a very questionable Georgia (U.S.)-based site.

And, of course, there's always the "mercs" comment that Weigel could ask about.

Disclaimer: I have a current DK account that I'm "preparing" for a "good post".

mediageek | August 2, 2007, 2:31pm | #

Oh yeah? Well I have a car that I'm "preparing" to "drive" to a local "restaurant" where I will commence to "consume" some delightful "comestibles."

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your [fake] name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to be where you can see,
Our troubles are all the same;
You want to be where everybody knows your [fake] name.

I'm thinking like this user's posts, only less obvious:

Just nudge them a little to the left, then a little more, then a little more...

TLB-

If you really want to mess with their minds, let them know your views and then state you are voting for Hillary! I'm sure their reactions will be hilarious.

I agree, to a certain extent, that Kossites are getting co-opted by the Democratic party establishment.

But, it's not a one way street. The Democratic party establishment is (albeit not lickity split) moving toward the netroots in many ways as well.

It's a harmonic convergence, of sorts.

Bozell - when commenting on the "scurrilous rumours" - said that 79% of Americans believe in the virgin birth of Jeebus.

i doubt this is true; however, over 25% of Americans (as reported by Bill Maher) believe that the rapture will come at the end of 2007 and everybody else will burn in hell. so, it may well be true, and if it is, then the USA is in worse shape than i thought.

less belief in sky gods,
more reality and logic.

"For O'Reilly Factor fans like you and me"

I can only hope that this was intended as a bit of ironic humor. Given O'Reilly's rank statism and rampant dishonesty, it is somewhat unlikely that any libertarian could stand him.

If you think the Kos isn't a left wing extremist site, then you probably believe the Comintern is a bowling league.
