Ronald Bailey Predicts Paris Climate Negotiations Next Year Will Be a Fiasco

Next December, the nations of the world are supposed adopt a "protocol, another legal instrument or agreed outcome with legal force" in Paris to comprehensively address the problem of man-made climate change. That's not going to happen. Why? Because the interests of the rich and poor countries just don't converge on how to handle climate change. Poor countries are demanding hundreds of billions in climate aid upfront before they agree to give up cheap fossil fuels. And rich countries won't hand over the cash unless poor countries first make credible commitments to cut their greenhouse gas emissions. Given this deadlock, Reason Science Correspondent Ronald Bailey predicts a fiasco next year in Paris.
