North Koreans Desperately Wish They Were in the 99 Percent

Gotta be a hoax, right?

North Korea’s state news agency weighed in on the Occupy Wall Street protests Thursday, highlighting the “stern judgment” of “millions of people” against a capitalist system that “brings exploitation, oppression, unemployment and poverty to the popular masses.”...

With no apparent sense of irony, KCNA says that in capitalist society “1% of privileged class is granted all preferential treatment while 99% of working masses are forced into poverty and death.”

At least they have nice jeans.

^poar spoof.

however, communism & capitalism are both devolving closer together by enriching an ever-smaller minority.

Re: Triple Real Asshole.

I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention - did you moo something?

sevo|10.20.11 @ 9:13PM|

Ya know, OM, I was gonna do a bit of a search and easily show triple-shit-hole's claim to be bullshit.
And then it dawned on me: Triple-ass-hole is WI with less research.
Like WI, triple-ass-hole posts that crap for no other reason than to get attention.
Fuggedaboutit.

I think that might actually be a hoax. In my three minutes of googling I was unable to find a link to the article on the North Korean news agency's website.

OT: THAT'S NOT FUNNY!

That article's not as funny as its author thinks.

The Art-P.O.G.|10.21.11 @ 1:18AM|

Au contraire

Women attempt to be funny less than men do, according to New Yorker cartoon editor Robert Mankoff, who co-authored the study.

The article quotes a guy who works with New Yorker cartoons as some sort of expert on teh funny. Unintentional humor at its finest.

The Art-P.O.G.|10.21.11 @ 1:59AM|

FWIW, I can think of some women who are really funny (Kaitlin Olson, Sarah Silverman, Kristen Wiig, Alex Borstein and Jessica Walter come to mind), but for some reason I can always think of more guys who are funny. Unless there's some sort of self-selection going on, I'm not sure that article offers a compelling hypothesis for why this might be.

|10.21.11 @ 8:28AM|

Women are funny incidentally, men are funny as a survival mechanism.

I think they are just calling out the US as a bunch of punters. Nork does it right. 0.01% of people have extreme privilege and power and all the rest get to starve and be brutally oppressed.

Any day now the state will wither away...

sevo|10.20.11 @ 9:06PM|

I think you need another cipher:
0.001%

Federal Dog|10.20.11 @ 5:00PM|

And die!

I haven't eaten in 4 days, and when I do, it's tree bark. I am the 99%.

Hodor!

|10.20.11 @ 5:54PM|

You have to be careful when it comes to what you allow your people to see.

The NorKs might walk away from the newscast saying "look at their hairstyles! And they're all fat! And they can protest without fear!"

|10.20.11 @ 6:40PM|

Yep, shades of the old Soviet propaganda boomerang--they'd show American workers on strike, and the average person in the street would say, "You're telling me they can strike?"

The Art-P.O.G.|10.21.11 @ 2:03AM|

That's why they probably only show one second flashes. And the skinny sort of hippies.

The Art-P.O.G.|10.21.11 @ 2:08AM|

But showing the Norks the inside of a Wal-Mart would just be cruel.

Mr. Mark|10.20.11 @ 6:15PM|

Occupy Wall Street, you have earned the right to surrender with honour.

And I'm glad I have 45 minutes to persuade you, my way.

You are young, and I am young.

We should be thinking of long lives ahead of us...more

Here's the North Korean news agency random insult generator that OWSers can use to accost any 1 percenters who happen to pass by.

Shit... does Ed Schultz work for North Korea's press agency, or what?
