In Louisiana, you can't sell flower arrangements
unless you have permission from the government. In Virginia, you
need a license to be a yoga instructor. But at least these laws
help protect consumers, right? Wrong, says John Stossel.
Occupational licensing schemes interfere with the freedom to make a
living, harm consumers by limiting competition, and protect
established firms.
