Leaked emails from the Climatic Research
Unit at the University of East Anglia have provoked a growing
scandal in climate change science that has been dubbed
Climategate. The real tragedy of Climategate is that it impairs
humanity’s ability to assess and react properly to a potentially
huge problem. It has put a cloud of doubt over the validity of
some considerable body of climate change research. Science
Correspondent Ronald Bailey describes how, in their zeal to
marginalize and stifle their critics, an insular band of climate
researchers has damaged the very science they sought to defend.
