The recent revival of the "public option" suggests that President
Obama and his allies in Congr
ess are at odds with the
health insurance industry. But Senior Editor Jacob Sullum
notes that Obama and the insurers still see eye to eye on a
central element of his health care agenda: the requirement that
every American buy medical coverage, which is supposed to
help control costs. Sullum argues that the
experience with this policy in Massachusetts indicates
that it will have the opposite effect.
