Radley Balko argues that the
aggressive police actions at the G20 summit in Pittsburgh last
month is the latest example of a disturbing trend in how free
expression is treated at political events: The more high-profile
the event, the more influential the players, and the more
high-stakes the decisions being made, the more aggressive police
and city officials seem to be with protesters, and the less
tolerance those officials show for constitutional rights.
