about tires and chicken feet. Unions have wanted a tire tariff for
a long time, and they're worried Obama will cave to international
pressure. And as Senior Editor Katherine Mangu-Ward writes, along
with not-so-veiled political threats designed to keep Obama in
line, the AFL-CIO is also trying to invoke the idea that
protectionism isn't just something union folks happen to want for
their own purposes—it's the law.
