Like much else
emanating from the White House these days, the Obama
administration's position on trade is incoherent and contradictory.
In response to criticism about his recent decision to slap a 35
percent tariff on Chinese tires, the president maintained that he
"want[ed] to further expand trade." But as Senior Editor Michael C.
Moynihan writes, Obama can't promote free trade by practicing
protectionism.
