Most
conservatives don't want to hear any naysaying about the use of
harsh interrogation tactics on suspected terrorists. Yet as Steve
Chapman points out, they would certainly get an argument from
Ronald Reagan, who signed an international ban on torture. Reagan,
Chapman writes, undoubtedly knew what modern conservatives forget:
once you rationalize torture, there is no logical place to
stop.
