In today's Los Angeles Times, Associate Editor Katherine Mangu-Ward dissects Sarah Palin's resignation and accuses Palin of being a whiny girl. When Palin complains that people are spreading lies about her—shocking untruths that cast aspersions on her intelligence, integrity and fecundity—she is right, says Mangu-Ward, but it's like a stripper complaining about catcalls.

Or she really wanted to quit to make more money. I'm guessing as Gov. she is limited to the amount, if any, she can charge for speaking and media deals.

She said pretty clearly that she was quitting because of all of the time and money that were being expended in responding to FOIA requests and spurious ethics complaints. She was essentially being paid by the state to go to work and defend herself and was unable to do the job Alaskans elected her to do. I think in this situation that quitting was the ethical thing to do.

Ever since the election, Palin's heart and mind have been on the lower 48 and 2012. Alaska does nothing for her anymore. She is ambitious in the ugliest sense of the word and in the opinion of millions of Americans is the most repulsive, grotesque reactionary to seek high office since Spiro Agnew. I'd vote for Rush before her if I had to make that choice.

I listened to Nixon's resignation speech (a CD comp of great speeches), and he went on and on about how it was such a disgrace not to complete an elected term. Either Nixon was right, and there is shame in quitting before the end of the term, or Nixon was a freak, and Palin is justified. (No points for pointing out that Nixon could be a freak and correct on that one issue).
