Spend some time
on most college campuses and you're likely to hear how progressives
and leftists led the battle against slavery, Jim Crow, and racism,
while conservatives and libertarians either sat it out or sided
with the bad guys. But as Associate Editor Damon W. Root writes,
there's a problem with this simplistic view: It completely ignores
the fact that classical liberals played an indispensable role in
the fight for equal rights.
