Do men and
women communicate differently? Not according to a study conducted
by James Pennebaker, chairman of the psychology department at the
University of Texas at Austin, who found that men and women both
utter about 16,000 words a day. But as Steve Chapman responds, if
the average male is putting out 16,000 words every day, some guys
must be gushing verbiage like Old Faithful to make up for the rest,
many of whom might easily be mistaken for victims of lockjaw.
