Dateline: Greenhills, Ohio, where hometown
boy Robert Burck, a.k.a. The Naked Cowboy, who is famous for
performing guitar songs in naught by a pair of tighty-whities (you
may have seen him in New Yawk City's Times Square) and
a cowboy hat, is scheduled to appear at an outdoor
festival.
The Naked Cowboy['s]...scheduled performance Friday...has sparked more resentment than he expected, setting off a digital war between his booking agent, Todd Rubenstein, and Greenhills mayoral candidate Pat Andwan.
Andwan sent an e-mail to community leaders urging them to protest the Naked Cowboy's performance at the festival, calling his behavior "deviant" and tighty-whities "indecent."...
Andwan said the Naked Cowboy is welcome to perform at bowling alleys and local saloons but she finds the festival an inappropriate setting for a man who wears nothing but underwear.
"It just shows what some parts of society have stooped down to," she said. "I just think it is totally insensitive and an insult to the families in the community. There should be some dialogue about what's appropriate and what's not."
Whole story, well-covered, here.

Pat Andwan sounds like she needs to be fucked good, hard, and proper.
Next up, Andwan takes on all those hussies flaunting their ankles at the local pool.
At some point in the last few years, dialogue seems to have become a popular weasel word. I don't get it.
Yeah. It's the new codeword for "Everyone should listen to and then follow exactly what my opinions on things are. Forever."
Warty - so true, ive noticed it showing up at work when people mean "I know whats really going to happen, because I think I can shove my way down your throat - later I'll tell you exactly why"
Warty, I think they imported it from England, where it's called "public debate." From its context, the term there seems to be used primarily by partisan flaks or true believers to defend a policy, which has already been decided upon by legislators, from its detractors.
yeah, Pat, here's some dialogue: lighten up. I somehow sense
that's not what you meant by that.
Warty, it happened that way because in legitimate negotiations,
dialogue is vital, in terms of understanding the person across the
table from you and actually getting somewhere. So then it became
code for "I am superficially throwing this signal that I am
listening, and I will promptly disregard everything you said the
second I've fooled you into thinking you've contributed to the
process."
I don't get why it's an insult to families or whatever. If you count the cowboy boots, he's wearing more clothes than Michael Phelps wears while swimming.

Don't go trying to get all logical on this one Bingo. You'll just
end up hurting your brain.
"Andwan said the Naked Cowboy is welcome to perform at bowling

'It just shows what some parts of society have stooped down to,'
she said."
I think your link is incorrect -- this is *obviously* from The
Onion.

The code word my neighborhood POA likes to use is "bickering". When
we won't just roll over for the busybodies and demand some facts,
that's "bickering".
Without reading the article, I'll guess that this woman is a Republican.
inappropriate setting for a man who wears nothing but
underwear
Only if he'll be preparing food.
Anyway, has anyone Googled this woman? Wow, what a whack
job.
"Local saloons?" Who the fuck uses the word
"saloon"?
Cowboys?
Anyway, I think the woman might have more of a point if the
cowboy's nekkidness was of the titilating variety, like the
Chipendales. Instead, this cowboy's nekkidness is of the buffonish
variety, like Benny Hill dropping his trousers.
"setting off a digital war between his booking agent, Todd

I guess this means that Todd and Pat are thumb-wrestling. Stop me
before I kill again!
Honestly, this is just pathetic. It's like our local mayoral candidate who apparently just discovered the infamous 419 scam. It's nothing more than a way to try and get some free press and try and appeal to the "moral majority" type voters. Pretty pathetic really.
On a semi-related note, Mr. Burck is suing Clear Channel for trademark infringement over the alleged creation of an impostor in Tampa.
I'm sorry, but outside of the context of Times Square, Burck is
just a nuisance.
Who is to say what is art? Well in this case I will. That guy is
just a joke.
Bitch talks shit about tighties, but I'll bet she has no problems with a mime performing....
It just occurred to me that the Naked Cowboy should sometimes go by his actual name for the British tourists. Only because they undoubtedly think "What a complete Berk" when they see him. I'm sure that they would find it an amusing coincidence.
A friend of mine went to New York and (if I am remembering
correctly) paid to get her picture with the Naked Cowboy.
Apparently he threw complimentary ass squeezes. Where can I get a
job where women wait in line to pay to be sexually harassed?
Joe Pesci bless America.
Oh c.mon! You can see more skin on network TV!
Besides, why is it fine for him to perform at places like bowling
alleys (where families go) and not music festivals?
Because bowling alleys are where those filthy, poor people families go.
truth in advertising! He's not really naked.
He's certainly no Buck Naked and the Bare Bottom Boys.
RIP, Buck Naked.
Thanks to the crazy lady Pat Andwan, record crowds are expected
to turnout for the Naked Cowboy's performance at 6:00PM Friday
night.
Her original intent of a boycott backfired and has resulted in
great publicity.
When Channel 5 news went to her house yesterday, she refused to
come outside and would not go on camera
