On Wednesday, June 24, starting at 6 p.m., Reason magazine’s D.C.-based staff will host a Happy Hour at the acclaimed Marvin bar on 14th street just above U. Please join us to celebrate:

The release of our July issue, featuring a cover story about President Obama’s misguided emulation of Japan’s “lost decade” of the 1990s, a Brian Doherty examination of Patri Friedman’s “Seasteading” project, a peek into the government’s official 9/11 coloring book, and much more.

Reason’s success at the 51st annual Southern California Journalism awards competition, including two first-place trophies and three honorable mentions.

The advent of the Summer Solstice, which we will honor by enjoying beverages outside.

Marvin is located at 2007 14th Street NW, one block west of the U Street Cardozo Metro Stop on the Green Line. I just read my latest reason, cover to cover on a flight home. I think that the comparison of the US and Japan two decades apart is reasonable, but not that compelling. The corruption and cronyism and myopia of the Japanese federal government is similar to that of the City of Chicago, but not necessarily the US federal government.
