"People say
I'm a libertarian," Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy once told
The New York Times. "I don't really know what that means."

Knowles argues that when it comes to free speech, race-based
classifications, gay rights, and abortion, Justice Kennedy's
jurisprudence qualifies as "modestly libertarian."
