Reason.tv's Michael C. Moynihan and Nick Gillespie recently sat down with Tucker Carlson, senior fellow at the Cato Institute, and Veronique de Rugy, a senior research fellow at the Mercatus Center, to discuss the conservative crackup, the Bush legacy, and bailout mania in Washington.
Approximately 20 minutes. Shot and edited by Dan Hayes.

Without reading so much as his handwritten notes, can we all
agree that Tucker's book on libertarianism will be contradictory to
the point of insanity?
Something along the lines of, "I'm a libertarian. Libertarians are
crazy because they believe X. That's just nuts, because clearly the
only thing you can logically believe is X. That's why I'm not a
libertarian."
Most people didn't start out libertarian, Brock. A lot of us came from some other place. The difference is that Tucker is taking that journey in front of the whole world.
Tucker says he believes in backing off and "leaving other people alone"? Whatta crock of BS. He's as moralizing, bedroom-peeping, pseudoChristina as the worst of the Republicans.

Hey Veronique! Eat a sandwich!
Right, you're in America. You've got to have some fat on your
bones.
Hey Veronique! Eat a sandwich!
Some people are blessed with high metabolism. I eat fast food
everyday and am 6' and 130 lbs. Relax.

Well said, Solana.
"Most people didn't start out libertarian, Brock. A lot of us
came from some other place."
Like from some sort of asylum?
I am going to give Tucker a pass. Clearly, he hasn't competently removed himself from his conservative days, but he has come a long way.
I like Tucker, I've been paying close attention to Tucker today
compared to Tucker 5 years ago, and even 2 years ago and he's come
a long way.
Good Vid.
Tucker Carlson is just the sort of self-absorbed little shit libertarians should be trying to recruit in these hard times. For one thing, unlike most of the losers who make up the true-believer libertarian base, Tucker actually can make a donation.
@Solana: so we agree? He's going to try to write a restaurant review before he actually goes to the restaurant.
Nick/Michael: Jesus Christ guys; have you ever watched one of your own tapes?! You spend more time talking over each other and interupting your guests than making cogent comments. Talk about lost opportunities. Dial down the caffiene guys!
Veronique looks like a nun, and Moynihan and Gillespie look just
like Catholic priests. In that context, Carlson looks like the
vulnerable little kid that they're going to harrass and sexually
abuse. Maybe there's a kind of religious fanatic look that cuts
across all rigid faith systems.
Hail Market,
Full of grace,
Prosperity is with thee.
Blessed art thou among systems,
and blessed is the fruit
of thy womb, Capital.
Holy Market,
Mother of Goods,
pray for us consumers now,
and at the hour of our bankruptcy.
Amen.
No bow tie for Carlson?
What a shame.
Lefiti is... um... something. Forgive you child, for you are, um...
something?
What the fuck is up with Tucker's pants?
Perhaps he donned the uniform of the famed French Zouaves to honor
Veronique's heritage?
Be it your love for the Big Mac to show your lack of taste or your critique of an elegant French woman whose chiseled visage could inspire a Renoir to show your inability to appreciate good taste, you Americans are an aesthetically challenge lot.

Uh... what?
I'm about as impressed with Carlson as I am with Bob Barr. I
think they both decided to pretend to care about freedom when they
saw that the neocon ship was sinking.
