There were a
few promising notes in President Barack Obama's speech to Congress
last night, writes Editor in Chief Matt Welch, particularly Obama's
vow to "end direct payments to large agribusinesses that don't need
them." But the problem is that Obama served up one confident
assertion after another, only to state moments later, with equal
conviction, their near opposite.
