Today's edition of my radio show will be devoted to the Kinks, a band that appears from time to time in my writing as well. Expect a mix of hits, obscurities, and occasional picks from Ray and Dave Davies' solo careers. (But nothing from Argent. You have to draw the line somewhere.)
The show will last from noon to 3, eastern time. If you live in Ann Arbor, you can tune in at 88.3 FM, and if you don't live in Ann Arbor, you can listen online.

Excellent, this will go nicely with the Thin Lizzy kick I've been on lately.
Thank you, Ray. From you, I have learned to always check the
package before committing to anything else.
Any chance this will be archived for posterity, Jesse? I'd love to
be able to check this out when I have the time.

Have I ever told the Cheap Trick bassist hat story?
I've been a Kinks fan since before puberty and I'm friggin' old. Ray Davies has written some of the smartest lyrics in rock and roll and they pretty much invented punk a decade or so before it was called punk.
A friend from high school who is now a DJ (Eugene - 92.3 fm - Greensboro) got back stage passes to a Thin Lizzy concert back in the late 80's. Eugene played bass, and highly admired their bassist so he sought him out. The bassist was wearing a black sombrero with a huge rim, and my friend asked him, 'how many people can fit under there?' The bassist took thirty odd seconds of concentrated thought that made Eugene worry if he would even be able to snap back, but once he gave the question a thorough parsing, he stated, 'just one, man.'
Just sent this to my wife, who's a huge Kinks fan, and who told me she's even going to be turning off the Soap Operas today to listen (be entertaining, she's 29 weeks pregnant, I don't wanna hear her scream if you're not!). As for me, like alan, stuck at work... I'd love to hear this archived somewhere if you're gonna do that.
My bad -- substitute Cheap Trick for Thin Lizzy in the last post and everything will be okay. Except for the false hope I may have given to any Thin Lizzy fans with my Elvis like sighting.
I can't wait to hear this! I've seen you chime in on KPS, so I know you're a true fan and will do them justice. I also second (triple?) the request for a download.

Thanks for the false hope, alan. Dick.
:)
My devil coil tail just got a new spike.
lol. When I read your post it was in the voice of The Monarch. Was that intentional?
Thanks, Andrew.
Alan, Dormous, Daisy, Sean: I periodically promise to post podcasts
of some of these shows online. But a mix of technical difficulties
and shortness of time have put the project on the back burner. If
you email me privately, I might be able to get you a recording by
other means.
It was good listening, thanks. Enough to make me switch from WFMU for the shift.
The Kinks acoustic version of Gallon of Gas is incredible. Thankee Mr Walker.
Better mod!
