With 275
billion tons in reserve, the U.S. has more than enough coal to meet
its energy needs. The only problem is that burning coal produces 10
percent more carbon dioxide than oil and 60 percent more than
natural gas. But as Science Correspondent Ronald Bailey writes,
there may now be a way for power producers to burn coal without
emitting greenhouse gases.
