When the news
broke that Gov. Rod Blagojevich was trying to auction off
President-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat, Roland Burris called
his behavior "appalling." But as Steve Chapman writes, after the
governor appointed Burriss to fill the vacancy, the onetime
comptroller-for-life lost interest in the scandal. "I have no
comment on what the governor's circumstance is," Burriss
demurred.
